“Free ‘Field of Dreams’ Screening Hosted by Kevin Costner in Scottsdale”

Kevin Costner to Host Free ‘Field of Dreams’ Screening in Scottsdale Following Wiffle Ball Championship

If you show it, he will come.

Hollywood star Kevin Costner is set to host a special free screening of the beloved 1989 baseball film Field of Dreams on Saturday, Oct. 25, at Scottsdale Stadium.

The event will follow the championship game of the Western Wiffle Ball Classic, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. and is expected to last about an hour. Once the game ends, fans will be welcomed into the stadium for the screening — with free admission for all guests arriving after 6:30 p.m.

Seating will be available both in the stands and on the field, and all spots are first come, first served. Fans can reserve their tickets in advance via Eventbrite. Scottsdale Stadium is located at 7408 E. Osborn Road.

“This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity — to watch Field of Dreams inside a stadium, alongside Kevin Costner himself,” said Logan Rose, founder of the Western Wiffle Ball League. “I grew up inspired by this movie. My parents even helped me build a wiffle ball field in our backyard — my very own field of dreams. And now, we’re here, meeting the man who made it all possible.”

Rose, a local resident, launched the league during the pandemic as a teenager. This year, the Western Wiffle Ball Classic is bringing together teams from more than 20 states, including Arizona, California, New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts, all competing for the top prize and national bragging rights.

Field of Dreams, based on W.P. Kinsella’s novel Shoeless Joe, tells the story of an Iowa farmer who builds a baseball field in his cornfield after hearing a mysterious voice. The film, nominated for three Academy Awards, features a stellar cast including Amy Madigan, Ray Liotta, Gaby Hoffman, James Earl Jones, and Burt Lancaster.

This won’t be Costner’s first visit to Scottsdale in 2025. Earlier in the year, he attended a gala at Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, where he received the museum’s inaugural Western Spirit Award during its 10th-anniversary celebration.
