Colleagues, friends, and fans are paying tribute to Treat Williams, the versatile and prolific actor who tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident at the age of 71. Below is a glimpse of the heartfelt reactions shared on social media.

The Rowayton, CT native had an impressive career, boasting over 125 film and television credits that spanned nearly five decades. He was perhaps best known for his role as a widowed brain surgeon who relocates his children from Manhattan to a small town in Colorado on the WB drama Everwood, which aired from 2002 to 2006. He also played the father of Kelly and Katie Severeid on Chicago Fire, starred alongside Shelley Long in the CBS sitcom Good Advice, and made guest appearances in numerous series, including Law & Order: SVU, White Collar, Hawaii Five-O, Leverage, and even The Simpsons. More recently, he was a series regular on the Hallmark Channel’s Chesapeake Shores.

Williams had a diverse film career as well, featuring in movies such as Hair, 1941, Prince of the City, Flashpoint, Dead Heat, and 127 Hours. His work in television earned him an Emmy nomination for portraying Michael Ovitz in The Late Shift. Additionally, he appeared in several Broadway productions.
