“‘Horizon: An American Saga’ Leaving Streaming Soon – Don’t Miss Kevin Costner’s Western Epic”
Kevin Costner’s Western Epic ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1’ Is Leaving Netflix Soon
Kevin Costner’s ambitious Western, Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, may not have made a huge splash at the box office, but it quickly found a loyal following after arriving on streaming. Since debuting on Netflix, the film climbed into the platform’s Top 10 chart and built a strong fanbase that continues to grow as viewers eagerly await the next installment.
However, fans hoping to rewatch the film — or see it for the first time — will need to act fast. Horizon is scheduled to leave Netflix’s streaming library. While the movie’s performance on the platform sparked hope that its success might accelerate the release of Chapter 2, the streaming run appears to have done little to move the needle in terms of securing distribution for the sequel.
The good news? Horizon: Chapter 1 will still be available to stream on Max, giving dedicated fans another option to revisit the sweeping frontier saga.
Released in theaters on June 28, Chapter 1 is the first entry in Costner’s self-funded four-part cinematic vision. Costner not only stars but also co-wrote, directed, and produced the film. The cast includes Sienna Miller, Ella Hunt, Sam Worthington, Jamie Campbell Bower, Michael Rooker, Luke Wilson, and Danny Huston. The story follows the early days of the town of Horizon, with Costner playing Hayes Ellison, a gunslinger drawn to a new beginning in the untamed American West.
What’s Next for ‘Horizon’?
The future of Horizon: Chapter 2 remains uncertain. Though the sequel has already been shot, edited, and even screened at select film festivals, it has yet to secure a theatrical distributor. While fans would likely welcome a streaming release, Costner has remained firm in his desire for a theatrical debut.
Legal issues involving Costner and the production companies behind Horizon have further clouded the franchise’s future. Despite these setbacks, production on Chapter 3 is reportedly well underway. Actor Danny Huston recently confirmed that much of the third installment has already been filmed, saying, “I think he’s got a lot of Chapter 3 in the can, actually.”
