How Princess Diana and Kevin Costner Almost Starred in a Movie Together

Following the massive success of the 1992 film The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston, rumors began circulating about a potential sequel — this time featuring none other than Princess Diana.

As unlikely as it may have sounded, Costner later confirmed that he had, in fact, discussed the idea with Diana, with help from her friend Sarah Ferguson. He revealed that he envisioned a sequel written specifically for the princess.

These surprising claims were revisited by Diana’s former butler, Paul Burrell, in his latest book The Royal Insider. Burrell noted that Diana ultimately turned down the opportunity to step into the acting world — a path later pursued by her future daughter-in-law, Meghan Markle.
