“Inside Kevin Costner’s Potential Move to Revisit Divorce Terms After Christine’s New Romance”
Kevin Costner May Seek to Reopen Divorce Settlement After Ex-Wife’s Quick Engagement
Kevin Costner is reportedly considering revisiting the terms of his divorce settlement with ex-wife Christine Baumgartner following her recent engagement to a wealthy financier just 11 months after their split was finalized.
Costner, 70, was reportedly caught off guard by Baumgartner’s swift move to accept a proposal from boyfriend Josh Connor, 49. The couple, who were married for more than two decades, went through one of Hollywood’s most bitter and protracted divorces, which was officially finalized in February last year.
Sources say that given the rapid pace of Baumgartner’s new engagement, Costner may launch a new legal battle to recover some of the financial losses he sustained during the divorce. This development comes despite the fact that they share three children: sons Caden, 17, Hayes, 15, and daughter Grace, 14.
A close friend of Baumgartner commented, “It’s entirely Kevin’s choice if he wants to dwell on the past, but Christine is focused on her future — on happiness for her children, for Josh, and, for the first time in a long time, for herself.”
The friend added, “Anyone who knows Christine understands how much she has dedicated her life to her family. Her children have always been her top priority. The emerald-cut ring Josh gave her symbolizes clarity, strength, and transparency in their relationship. They are both thrilled and excited about their future together.”
The divorce was marred by intense disputes, with Costner accusing Baumgartner of running up $95,000 in charges on his credit card, including payments for lawyers and a forensic accountant. Costner also alleged that she refused to leave their marital home despite a prenuptial agreement that stipulated he would keep the property he purchased in 1988 in the event of a separation.
In court documents, Costner described Baumgartner’s refusal to vacate the home as “surprising and disheartening.” He recalled his first marriage, during which he was left without a stable home, and said he never wanted to experience that again.
Costner’s attorney, Laura Wasser, filed for a court order to remove Baumgartner from the house, while Baumgartner’s legal team countered with a restraining order to prevent Costner from taking their children out of state or selling any property.
Costner claimed he provided Baumgartner with $1 million to secure a rental property nearby, but Baumgartner argued the money was deposited into an account without her knowledge and that she needed more time to find a suitable home. She also requested $165,000 per month in child support to maintain their children’s lifestyle. The court ultimately ordered Costner to pay $63,209 monthly, plus their children’s school and medical expenses.
Now, with Baumgartner’s engagement, there’s speculation Costner might attempt to alter these arrangements once again.
For now, though, those close to the actor say he isn’t rushing into any new relationships himself. A friend revealed, “Kevin is still processing everything that happened and is in no hurry to jump into another long-term commitment.”
