Is Kevin Costner’s ‘Yellowstone’ Journey Over? The Actor Expresses Uncertainty
Does Kevin Costner have insider knowledge about ‘Yellowstone’? In a recent exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, the 69-year-old actor suggested that his journey with the series might not be over.
“Making Yellowstone has been a wonderful part of my life,” Kevin shared. “Who knows, sometimes things have a way of circling back. I haven’t seen that dust trail coming toward me, but I’ve always been open to what I started. The five seasons were a lot for us to accomplish, and I feel that the story is not finished.”
This revelation comes as a surprise, especially since Kevin previously announced he would not be returning for the second half of Season 5. In an Instagram video on June 20, 2024, he stated, “Hi everyone, I just want to let you know that after a long year and a half of working on Horizon and reflecting on Yellowstone, I realized I won’t be able to continue with Season 5B or any future episodes. It was an experience that truly changed me, and while I loved it and know you did too, I wanted to inform you that I won’t be returning. I cherish the relationship we’ve built and hope to see you at the movies.”
As fans grapple with this news, speculation continues around what creator Taylor Sheridan has planned. For much of the year, it seemed that Part Two would mark the end of an era. However, Deadline recently reported that negotiations are underway for a potential sixth season featuring Cole Hauser (Rip) and Kelly Reilly (Beth). With new promotional materials describing the upcoming episodes as “The Epic Return” of Yellowstone rather than a finale, it seems there may be more cowboy drama ahead for fans.
