“Kevin Costner Appears Before Intense Confrontation with Kelly Reilly in New Yellowstone Trailer”

Kevin Costner made a brief but notable appearance in the dramatic first trailer for the second half of Yellowstone’s fifth season, which the Paramount Network released on Friday.

The Oscar winner, 69, is set to exit Taylor Sheridan’s neo-Western series, with the remaining six episodes of season five scheduled to air on November 10. This new trailer follows the network’s release of five photos giving fans a preview of what’s ahead, amidst news of a surprise sixth season.

The teaser opens with Costner’s character, James Dutton, delivering a poignant line: “Legacy. You build something worth having. Someone’s gonna try to take it.” The trailer shows him briefly on a ranch and then in front of a fire, before introducing other key characters like Kelly Reilly (Beth Dutton), Cole Hauser (Rip Wheeler), and Wes Bentley (Jamie Dutton).

The clip features Hauser’s Rip stating, “What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us,” followed by scenes of him in a hoodie trying to keep a low profile, and Beth brandishing a knife. Other glimpses include a night-time horseback ride and an FBI raid, while Bentley’s character ominously says, “You destroy me, you destroy yourself,” seemingly while disposing of evidence.

The trailer also showcases a tense moment where Beth shoves her brother’s girlfriend against a wall, and later, Beth on the phone declaring, “Unlike you, I keep my promises.”

The second half of season five will air two years after the first part concluded in January 2023. Despite his brief appearance in the trailer, Costner confirmed his departure from the series earlier in June. He shared on social media, “After this long year and a half of working on Horizon… and doing all the things required, I realized that I’m not going to be able to continue Season 5b or into the future.”

In his announcement, Costner reflected on his time with the show, stating, “It was something that really changed me. I loved it, and I know you loved it. I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning.” He elaborated to The Hollywood Reporter, explaining that leaving was a necessary decision to avoid further drama, as he was ready to move on after dedicating five seasons to the series.

Speculation about Costner’s departure has included potential disputes over pay and his commitments to his film Horizon: An American Saga. Nonetheless, Costner emphasized his appreciation for the fans and his commitment to continue creating meaningful work for them.

Additionally, Paramount Network recently released the first five photos from the remaining episodes of Yellowstone’s fifth season.
