“Kevin Costner Calls Sexual Harassment Allegation Over Horizon 2 Scene ‘An Absolute Nightmare'”
Kevin Costner Denies Sexual Harassment Allegations Related to Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2
Kevin Costner has firmly denied allegations of sexual harassment made by a stunt performer during the filming of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, calling the claims false and an attempt to damage his reputation.
The allegations surfaced in May, when the performer filed a lawsuit claiming she was asked to rehearse and perform a simulated violent rape scene without adequate notice, proper modesty garments, or the presence of an intimacy coordinator. According to the lawsuit, the experience caused her lasting trauma. She is seeking damages as well as a court order mandating formal training and the use of intimacy coordinators on future productions.
Costner’s legal team has filed motions to dismiss the suit, asserting the allegations are inaccurate. They have also submitted sworn statements from several cast and crew members who claim the stunt performer had volunteered for the rehearsal in question.
In a statement, Costner strongly refuted the claims:
“Devyn’s claims against me are absolutely false, and it is deeply disappointing to me that a woman who worked on our production would claim that I or any other member of my production team would make one of our own feel uncomfortable—let alone suffer the ‘nightmare’ she has invented. My belief is that Devyn’s claims were designed, through the use of false statements and sensationalistic language, to damage my reputation.”
He added that the allegations appear to be an attempt to embarrass both him and the Horizon films.
The ongoing legal dispute has reportedly delayed the publicity rollout for Horizon: Chapter 2, as the film has become overshadowed by the controversy.
