“Kevin Costner Claims Delay of Horizon: Chapter 2 Beneficial for Him”

Kevin Costner’s “Horizon” Franchise Faces Challenges After Disappointing Box Office; Sequel’s Delay Turns Out to Be a Blessing in Disguise

Kevin Costner’s “Horizon” franchise is currently navigating troubled waters following the lackluster box-office performance of the first installment. The sequel, “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2,” has been delayed and its release strategy adjusted. In a recent discussion, the actor reflected on the changes and how the delay has unexpectedly benefited his plans.

Costner Responds to Horizon Chapter 2’s Release Delay

Acknowledging the underwhelming financial results of the first film, Costner pointed out that the sequel’s delay was a direct consequence. Despite the setback, the veteran actor remains confident in the quality of his work. Speaking at a press conference during the Venice Film Festival, the 69-year-old actor noted, “It didn’t have overwhelming success. I’ve had a lot of movies that way, that have stood the test of time.” He also clarified that the postponement was a studio decision.

Originally set for release on August 16, 2024, “Horizon Chapter 2” had its theatrical premiere scrapped in favor of a last-minute entry into the Venice Film Festival, where it was showcased on the event’s final day.

Costner Discusses How the Delay Benefited His Plans

Despite the difficulties, Costner revealed that the delay ultimately worked to his advantage. He explained, “For me, it fell back into my plan, which was I always wanted to come out with movies about five-six months apart. And that was going to allow me to come to Venice. I would have never come to Venice if the film was already out.”

The “Horizon” franchise is planned to span four films in total, with the remaining two scripts already completed and expected to move into development soon. However, official release dates and confirmations for the sequels have yet to be announced.
