Kevin Costner Dismisses Revised Sexual Harassment Lawsuit as ‘Same Old Nonsense’
Kevin Costner and His Legal Team Reject Amended Sexual Harassment Lawsuit as ‘Baseless’
Kevin Costner and his attorney are strongly denying the latest developments in the ongoing sexual harassment lawsuit filed against the actor, calling the revised claims “still entirely untrue.”
The amended lawsuit was brought by stunt performer Devyn LaBella, who accused Costner of inappropriate behavior during the filming of an alleged unscripted rape scene in Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2.
Attorney Marty Singer Denounces Allegations
Costner’s lawyer, Marty Singer, responded to the amended lawsuit by stating that it simply recycles “previously debunked” accusations. According to Singer, the updated filing remains “completely fabricated,” adding that at least 12 independent witnesses are prepared to testify and refute LaBella’s claims.
Singer emphasized that Costner is “ready and willing to be fully transparent” about everything that occurred on set and remains committed to standing for the truth.
Details from LaBella’s Amended Complaint
In her new filing, LaBella alleges that she was on her period during the filming of the contested scene and claims her underwear was exposed after Costner allegedly ordered an unscripted rape scene to be filmed. She also described the tearing of costume garments — specifically her pantaloons — which Costner has firmly denied.
LaBella claimed the scene involved her character being raped inside a covered wagon by actor Roger Ivens, and that no intimacy coordinator was present despite requests. She further alleged physical distress during the scene, saying Ivens pinned her down with his body and touched her near sensitive areas.
Costner Seeks Dismissal of Lawsuit
Costner’s legal filing calls for the lawsuit to be dismissed entirely, arguing that LaBella’s version of events is inconsistent with her behavior on set. He pointed to a text message LaBella reportedly sent to a supervisor shortly after filming, in which she expressed gratitude and enjoyment, saying:
“Thank you for these wonderful weeks! I so appreciate you! I learned so much… I’m really happy it worked out the way it did, too.”
Costner also noted that LaBella was appropriately dressed for the scene, wearing an ankle-length costume and shorts underneath. He maintains there was no nudity, simulated sex, or any physical contact between them.
Costner Moves On with New Film Project
While the Horizon series has faced both legal drama and underwhelming box office results, Costner is moving forward with a new project. He is set to co-star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal in the upcoming film Honeymoon with Harry, based on the 2016 novel by Bart Barker.
Directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, the film tells the story of a man who ends up on his honeymoon with his deceased fiancée’s father. The project is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, with production expected to begin in 2026 across various locations in Australia.
