“Kevin Costner Doubts ‘Yellowstone’ Will Succeed Without His Unique Contribution After Shocking Departure”

Is This the End for Yellowstone?

Despite the upcoming spinoffs, Kevin Costner reportedly lacks confidence in the future of the popular franchise following his departure from Yellowstone in Season 5. An insider revealed that Costner, who views the show as his creation, feels a sense of satisfaction at seeing it struggle without him. “He believes the show’s leaders are floundering and that without his unique insight—even in a consulting role—it won’t succeed,” the source noted, reflecting Costner’s strained relationship with producers and showrunner Taylor Sheridan.

Costner announced his exit in a June Instagram video, citing his demanding schedule with Horizon and his inability to continue with the series. He expressed his love for the show and his appreciation for the fan base but confirmed he would not return.

In a recent interview, Costner voiced frustration over the lack of support he received amidst negative press, lamenting that no one defended his contributions. “I read all the stories and was disappointed that nobody on their side ever stepped up to acknowledge what I did for them,” he said.
