Kevin Costner Faces Backlash Over Handling of Stuntwoman’s Harassment Allegations

Legal Battle Between Kevin Costner and Stuntwoman Devyn LaBella Intensifies

The legal dispute between actor Kevin Costner and stuntwoman Devyn LaBella continues to escalate, as LaBella maintains the validity of her claims while Costner’s legal team seeks dismissal of the case.

LaBella alleges that during the filming of Horizon 2, she was unexpectedly directed to perform an unscripted rape scene, leaving her emotionally and physically distressed. Her legal team argues that her account has remained consistent since she first reported the incident in 2023. They have also submitted contemporaneous evidence to support her claims, including communications with the production’s intimacy coordinator.

“It’s disturbing to see the defendants continue to ‘mansplain’ to Devyn what her own experience was on set,” LaBella’s attorney stated. “She has sworn under oath to the truth.”

Costner’s legal team has strongly denied the allegations. They argue that inconsistencies in LaBella’s statements undermine her credibility. According to court filings, LaBella initially claimed she was forced into the scene without prior notice but later described a meeting with stunt coordinator Wade Allen, allegedly contradicting her original claim. Costner’s lawyers also argue that LaBella had full knowledge of the scene’s content and costume requirements in advance.

Attorney Marty Singer, representing Costner, maintains the actor’s innocence and asserts that over a dozen eyewitnesses are prepared to refute LaBella’s version of events. He also emphasized that Costner is fully willing to disclose what happened on set.

In her lawsuit, LaBella described feeling physically violated during the shoot and emotionally traumatized afterward. She alleged that her undergarments were torn during the scene and that actor Roger Ivens touched her inappropriately, both during filming and between takes. Costner’s legal team disputes these claims, stating that her clothing remained intact and that no misconduct occurred.

LaBella has expressed that the experience left her emotionally shaken, particularly as she was menstruating at the time. She claims she was left in distress in a production vehicle after the shoot, and questioned why an intimacy coordinator was not present during such a sensitive scene. In a message attached to her legal filing, she described the incident as an “abomination” that had deeply affected her.

Despite the ongoing legal turmoil surrounding Horizon 2, Costner remains focused on his career. He recently stated that he has no plans to slow down and remains committed to pursuing his creative passions.

As the case develops, the court will decide whether LaBella’s claims will proceed or be dismissed at the request of Costner’s legal team.
