“Kevin Costner Honors Late Co-Star James Earl Jones with Heartfelt Tribute”

Hollywood is grieving the loss of the legendary actor James Earl Jones.

Jones, renowned for his iconic voice work as Darth Vader in the “Star Wars” series and Mufasa in both the 1994 and 2019 versions of “The Lion King,” passed away on Monday morning at his home in Dutchess County, New York, surrounded by his family, his representative confirmed to ABC News.

He was 93 years old. Mark Hamill, Jones’ co-star from “Star Wars,” paid tribute on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “#RIP dad.” Hamill portrayed Luke Skywalker, the son of Darth Vader, in the franchise.

Beyond his roles in “Star Wars” and “The Lion King,” Jones, who was honored with an honorary Oscar in 2012, made a lasting impact on film and television. His memorable performances included Terrence Mann in the 1989 film “Field of Dreams,” where he starred alongside Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta, and Gaby Hoffman. He also played King Jaffe Joffer in “Coming to America” and “Coming 2 America” opposite Eddie Murphy.
