Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in Amazon MGM Dramedy Honeymoon with Harry
Amazon MGM Studios has announced that Kevin Costner and Jake Gyllenhaal will headline Honeymoon with Harry, a dramedy based on Bart Baker’s novel of the same name.
The story centers on a grieving man (Gyllenhaal) who embarks on a honeymoon trip with his would-be father-in-law (Costner) after his fiancée passes away just two days before their wedding. The film will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa from a screenplay by Dan Fogelman. The creative trio previously collaborated on This Is Us, Paradise, and Crazy, Stupid, Love.
Fogelman will produce alongside Mike Karz of Gulfstream Pictures and Jennifer Salke under her newly launched Sullivan Street Productions banner. The project marks Salke’s first film with Amazon MGM since stepping down as head of the studio earlier this year, as well as her debut as a producer. Salke and Fogelman reunite following their successful partnership on This Is Us during her tenure at NBC.
Honeymoon with Harry also marks a continued collaboration between Gulfstream Pictures and Amazon MGM Studios, following titles like Upgraded and One Fast Move. The project was initially developed at New Line Cinema during Karz’s previous deal with the studio.
Gyllenhaal recently starred in and executive produced Apple TV+’s legal thriller Presumed Innocent, which became the streamer’s most-watched drama series and earned him Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. He is set to appear in M. Night Shyamalan’s Remain and Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Bride!, both from Warner Bros. His production company, Nine Stories, holds a first-look film deal with Amazon MGM.
Costner recently directed, produced, and starred in the multi-part Civil War epic Horizon: An American Saga and remains widely recognized for his Golden Globe-nominated role in Yellowstone. Through his Territory Pictures banner, he also executive produces the upcoming limited series The Gray House.
Ficarra and Requa’s film credits also include I Love You Phillip Morris, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and Focus.
