Kevin Costner Opens Film Studio in Southern Utah
ST. GEORGE — Rising from the red desert near the St. George Regional Airport, a $100 million film studio and soundstage is now complete, bringing Hollywood-level production capabilities to southern Utah.
Territory Pictures, the production company founded by Oscar-winning director Kevin Costner, has officially completed phase one of its ambitious studio project in Washington County.
Speaking at the U.S. premiere of “Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2” at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, Costner expressed his excitement about the studio’s potential.
“The studio is ready to go! Utah already offers so much for filmmakers, and now with this studio, it’s a real game changer,” Costner said. “It’s not just great for the film industry—it’s an opportunity for people living in Utah who want to be part of this business. I really believe in the full circle of what this can become.”
Costner also shared his eagerness to continue work on the Horizon series, adding, “I’m desperate to make the third movie and bring it to everyone. I’d like to get back to it this year—I’m working every day to make that happen.”
Brett Burgess, Costner’s partner at Territory Pictures and president of Development Solutions Group, Inc., told St. George News that the 45-acre site includes a soundstage and is designed to support major film productions.
