“Kevin Costner Opens Up About Battling Kidney Stones While Filming Hidden Figures”
Kevin Costner recently opened up about his battle with kidney stones while filming Hidden Figures in 2016.
In a candid interview with PEOPLE, the Yellowstone star shared, “I’ve never worked drunk on a set. I’ve never worked high on a set, but I was on morphine for the last two weeks of filming Hidden Figures.”
Reflecting on his experience during the movie’s production, Kevin revealed, “I worked ten days with an IV drip. I honestly don’t know how I managed it.”
He explained that he felt normal for about three days, but then his condition changed dramatically. “I never missed a day of work,” he emphasized, though he admitted, “I sat in my trailer with a morphine drip in my arm.”
The IV treatment left him with bruising that impacted his performance. “I ended up having to keep my sleeves down in the movie instead of rolling them up because of that,” he noted.
Kevin recalled, “I wanted to cry, but with everyone watching, I held it in.”
When discussing the film’s box office performance with Entertainment Weekly, he expressed that he wasn’t frustrated by it. “I’ve come to terms with how movies perform on their opening weekends,” he said. “If we place too much importance on that, we’re likely to be disappointed.”
He added, “I’m really happy with how Horizon turned out; it looks exactly as I envisioned, and that’s what matters most to me in this process.”
