“Kevin Costner Pays Heartfelt Tribute to the Legendary James Earl Jones”

Kevin Costner is among the many celebrities honoring James Earl Jones on social media this week. Jones, known for his iconic role alongside Costner in Field of Dreams, passed away on Monday at the age of 93.

Costner took to Instagram to express his gratitude for having worked with Jones, sharing a series of images from the beloved 1989 baseball film. He wrote, “That booming voice. That quiet strength. The kindness that he radiated. So much can be said about his legacy, so I’ll just say how thankful I am that part of it includes Field of Dreams.”

He continued, “If you’ve seen it, you know that this movie wouldn’t be the same with anyone else in his role. Only he could bring that kind of magic to a movie about baseball and a cornfield in Iowa. I’m grateful to have witnessed him creating that magic. Rest in peace, friend.”

In Field of Dreams, Costner plays Ray Kinsella, an Iowa farmer who builds a baseball diamond in his cornfield after hearing a mysterious voice. Jones played Terence Mann, a disenchanted author whose character adds depth to the story. The film, which received three Oscar nominations and was preserved by the Library of Congress in 2017, is considered a classic.

Throughout his illustrious career, Jones lent his unmistakable voice to over 80 films, including Star Wars, Coming to America, The Hunt for Red October, The Sandlot, and The Lion King.

Jones passed away at his home in Dutchess County, New York, on Monday morning. His representative, Barry McPherson, confirmed the news, saying, “He passed this morning surrounded by his loved ones. He was a great man.”
