“Kevin Costner Plans to Film Chapters 3 & 4 of ‘Horizon’ in Spring 2025”

Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1” is set to debut on Max in just two days. The strategy is to build a streaming audience to pave the way for the theatrical release of the already completed ‘Chapter 2,’ which is expected soon.

At Cannes in May, Costner revealed he had filmed nine days of footage for ‘Chapter 3’ before halting production due to funding issues. Although the plan was initially to complete filming this summer, those plans fell through. Reports suggested a potential fall shoot, but it’s now clear that won’t happen.

Costner has now adjusted his plans, aiming to shoot Chapters 3 and 4 back-to-back next spring. Despite mixed reactions to the first chapter, there is strong anticipation for the continuation of the saga. The second chapter, set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September, is reportedly an improvement over the first.

Costner has indicated that he has already filmed some of Chapter 3 and intends to complete both Chapters 3 and 4 next spring. He has described the project as the most challenging he has ever undertaken, expressing his enthusiasm for the film and his belief that the upcoming chapters will be even more compelling.

There is no current release date for ‘Horizon 2,’ which was initially slated for an August release but was postponed by Warner Bros after the first installment did not attract the expected audience. Although there have been offers from streamers like Netflix and Amazon to acquire the films, Costner is holding out for theatrical releases.
