Kevin Costner Provides Exciting Update on Upcoming Sequels to Horizon: An American Saga

Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1 premiered in theaters earlier this summer but didn’t achieve box office success. Despite its strong Western narrative and its role as the first installment in a planned four-part series, the film struggled commercially. Consequently, Warner Bros. has postponed the release of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2. However, Kevin Costner remains undeterred and is committed to completing this ambitious project.

In a recent interview with Today, Costner shared an optimistic update: “I love the journey of this project. It’s been the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but I’m passionate about this movie. I’m very proud of the second chapter, and the third one is even more challenging than the first two, while the fourth will wrap up the story. I’ve promised myself that I’ll see this through and deliver these grand stories to the audience. My hope is that people will connect with these characters.”

He continued, “Sometimes, what you create doesn’t immediately resonate with others. It’s often only after completion that people start to appreciate it and feel a personal connection to the story and characters. I’m already working on the third chapter and plan to potentially shoot both the third and fourth chapters back to back next spring.”

Despite the first film’s underperformance and the uncertainty surrounding the release of Chapter 2, Costner is determined to complete the saga.

Horizon: An American Saga depicts a sweeping, 15-year narrative covering the pre-and post-Civil War expansion and settlement of the American West. The story explores the challenges faced by settlers, the interactions with Indigenous peoples, and the relentless drive of those seeking to claim the land. Costner has emphasized the film’s focus on the strength of women amid the harsh realities of frontier life, noting, “The story highlights how difficult life was for these women, who often followed their men into perilous, unsettled territories. It was crucial for me to portray the struggle and vulnerability they experienced.”

The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Sienna Miller, Sam Worthington, Jamie Campbell Bower, Luke Wilson, Thomas Haden Church, Jena Malone, Michael Rooker, Alejandro Edda, Will Patton, and Tatanka Means.
