“Kevin Costner Returns in ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, Part 2 Trailer Following Dramatic Departure”
The hit ranch drama “Yellowstone” has dropped its first teaser trailer for the second half of Season 5, which is confirmed by Paramount as the final season for the show—at least for now. Although there were recent rumors suggesting the possibility of a Season 6, the network has yet to confirm any continuation beyond this season.
The series, centered around the Dutton family and their massive Montana ranch, features patriarch John Dutton (Kevin Costner) and his adult children Kayce (Luke Grimes), Jamie (Wes Bentley), Beth (Kelly Reilly), and Beth’s husband, Rip (Cole Hauser). Despite Costner’s confirmation of his departure from the show, the trailer includes footage of him, with a voiceover of him saying, “Legacy. You build something worth having, someone is gonna try and take it.” This raises questions about how his character will be written out of the series.
It appears the trailer uses footage shot before Costner’s exit, with one scene showing Kayce telling his wife, “What I’m doing isn’t for the ranch. It’s for us.” Another clip features a distressed Jamie on the phone, saying, “You destroy me, you destroy yourself,” while Beth is seen making a threatening gesture and speaking on the phone about keeping promises. Additionally, the trailer includes a scene of individuals in “FBI” vests sorting through files.
In May, Costner criticized the show’s producers in an interview with Deadline, accusing them of “bullsh-t drama” and claiming there were “no scripts” for Season 5. In June, he announced on Instagram that he would not return for future seasons due to his focus on his Western film project, “Horizon: An American Saga,” which received lukewarm reviews and underperformed at the box office. Costner expressed his deep affection for “Yellowstone” and the relationships he built through the series, bidding farewell to fans and indicating he would focus on his film career going forward.
