Kevin Costner Reveals He Only Began Drinking Coffee Recently: ‘Not an Old Habit’
Kevin Costner, the director, writer, and star of Horizon: An American Saga, reveals that he usually enjoys just “one cup” of coffee a day—and that he wasn’t always a big coffee drinker.
In an exclusive interview, the 70-year-old actor opened up about his newfound love for the caffeinated beverage, which he actually started drinking later in life.
“It’s not an old habit,” Costner shares. “In the last 12 to 15 years, I finally came to coffee.” He continues his longtime partnership with Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and says, “Coffee starts my day. It’s really become a bit addictive. I don’t think I have an addictive personality, but coffee definitely kicks off my mornings.”
Costner admits that when he first tried coffee, it was an acquired taste. “I remember not liking it at all. It needed a ton of sugar, a ton of something. The bitterness was too much for me to handle,” he recalls.
Now, coffee has become an essential part of his daily routine—whether he’s immersed in his latest Hollywood projects or spending quality time with his seven children. “But it’s just one cup,” he emphasizes.
As part of his continued collaboration with Keurig’s Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Costner is helping to promote their new Father’s Day campaign, “Dad’s First Cup.” Starting Wednesday, June 11, coffee lovers can nominate an outstanding father in the comments section of a joint Instagram post by Green Mountain Coffee Roasters and Costner.
Three grand prize winners will receive a personalized video message from Costner along with a year’s supply of Green Mountain Coffee Roasters K-Cup pods in Horizon Blend and Mountainside Mocha flavors.
The Bodyguard star also played a role in creating both of these signature beverage flavors in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
