Kevin Costner Reveals His Ideal Partner After Divorcing Christine Baumgartner

Kevin Costner’s divorce from Christine Baumgartner was finalized in February, and now the actor is ready to embrace dating again.

At the premiere of Horizon: An American Saga on June 24, Costner, 69, shared with Fox News what he seeks in a future partner. “I’ve had two unique relationships,” he reflected. “I want someone who wants to be loved and feels their best when that love is present and uplifting.”

Costner and Baumgartner, 50, married in 2004 and have three children together: Cayden, 17, Hayes, 15, and Grace, 13. He also has adult children—Annie, 40; Lily, 37; and Joe, 36—from his first marriage to Cindy Silva, which lasted from 1978 to 1994, and a son, Liam, 28, with ex Bridget Rooney. Hayes recently made his acting debut in the film, joined on the red carpet by four of his siblings.

“It’s wonderful to celebrate this film and be here with my family and cast,” Costner told Entertainment Tonight. “Hollywood is my town, and I cherish being part of this community.” He also humorously commented on the challenges faced by contestants on The Golden Bachelor and the upcoming Golden Bachelorette. “It’s all these beautiful people trying to find love in front of a billion viewers,” he noted. “I have a bit of experience with that.”

Despite being newly single, Costner has faced dating rumors in recent months. He recently addressed speculation about a romance with singer Jewel, whom he described as “special” and “beautiful enough to go out with.” “Jewel and I are friends—we’ve never dated,” he clarified on the June 18 episode of The Howard Stern Show. “I don’t want these rumors to damage our friendship.”

Costner explained that the rumors may have started after a trip to Richard Branson’s Necker Island, where he traveled with Jewel and several others. “I’ve known Richard for years, and he’s been inviting me to his island,” he shared. “I decided to go down after my divorce and as a single dad. We were just a group of friends, and I want to keep it that way.”
