“Kevin Costner Reveals Yellowstone Departure, Citing a Desire to Avoid Drama”

Kevin Costner Reveals Yellowstone Departure and New Focus on Horizon: An American Saga

Kevin Costner has confirmed his departure from the hit show Yellowstone, explaining that the decision to leave was driven by his desire to avoid drama and move forward with new projects. While promoting his upcoming film Horizon: An American Saga, Costner discussed why he chose to make the announcement now, just as the show’s final episodes are set to air on November 10.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Costner shared that the announcement wasn’t difficult but necessary. “It was important to say, ‘Hey, OK, I don’t want to talk about this anymore. It’s time to move on,’” he said. This clarity comes after a period of speculation about his return, especially with filming for the final episodes already in progress.

Reflecting on his time with Yellowstone, Costner expressed gratitude for the show’s fans and the opportunity he had to be a part of it. “I gave this thing five seasons,” he said. “I was really happy to do it. I don’t need drama. So, let’s take that drama away and move on. The fans have been incredibly supportive, and my focus now is to continue creating work that matters to them.”

As he transitions to his next major project, Costner is focused on his ambitious Western film series, Horizon. The first chapter of this three-part epic is set to premiere on June 28, with Chapter 2 following on August 16. He’s already working on Chapter 3 but needs additional funding to complete it.

“I owe it to my fans to deliver the best possible movie,” Costner stated. “If I choose to make movies, it’s with the understanding that my fans are right there with me. I want to take them in directions they might not have expected.”

In a recent social media post, Costner made his departure from Yellowstone public, saying, “After working on Horizon and reflecting on Yellowstone, I realized that I won’t be able to continue with the show’s future seasons. It was a transformative experience, and while I loved it, it’s time for me to move on.”
