“Kevin Costner to Host ‘Yellowstone to Yosemite’ Docuseries on Fox Nation”
Kevin Costner is set to host and executive produce a new three-part docuseries titled Yellowstone to Yosemite for Fox Nation, premiering on February 8, with episodes releasing weekly. This follows his 2022 deal with the network for Yellowstone: One-Fifty, marking the second project in a series of collaborations between Costner and Fox Nation.
Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner follows Costner as he retraces the historic 1903 Yosemite expedition taken by Theodore Roosevelt, who was accompanied by environmental advocate John Muir. This journey inspired Roosevelt to take action in protecting Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove by placing them under federal control, ultimately adding them to the national park system.
As the series description highlights, Costner delves into the region’s rich Indigenous American history, the unexpected arrival of outsiders in 1850, and John Muir’s transformation into a passionate advocate for America’s wild places. Through Costner’s eyes, viewers will gain insight into Muir’s fight against the politics of resource management and how Roosevelt’s intervention led to the creation of the National Park System, including 150 National Forests, five National Parks, and the preservation of 230 million acres of land.
“Once in a while, you come across a story that combines elements so extraordinary that it’s stranger than fiction, yet it all truly happened,” said Costner. “The story of President Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir’s camping trip through Yosemite is one of those rare tales, and I’m eager to explore the next chapter in the preservation of America’s frontier.”
“Kevin Costner has an unparalleled ability to capture the essence of the American experience and engage audiences through his remarkable storytelling,” said Fox Nation president Lauren Petterson. “Following the success of our first collaboration, there’s no filmmaker who better represents the spirit of America 250 than Costner.”
Yellowstone to Yosemite with Kevin Costner was produced by Costner’s Territory Films and Warm Springs Productions, with Rod Lake and Costner serving as executive producers, alongside Marc Pierce for Warm Springs.
