Kevin Costner to Receive 2025 Eva Monley Award from Location Managers Guild

The Location Managers Guild International (LMGI) has named Kevin Costner as the recipient of its 2025 Eva Monley Award, recognizing his outstanding contributions to the art of filmmaking through his dedication to using real-world locations.

Costner will be honored at the 12th Annual LMGI Awards on August 23, held at the Eli and Edythe Broad Stage in Santa Monica. The Eva Monley Award is presented to individuals whose work has significantly elevated storytelling through authentic location use.

A two-time Academy Award winner, Costner has starred in a wide range of films, including Silverado, The Untouchables, No Way Out, Field of Dreams, Bull Durham, JFK, Wyatt Earp, The Postman, and Horizon: An American Saga. He also gained acclaim for his role as John Dutton in the hit series Yellowstone, and has served as a producer on numerous projects.

“Kevin Costner has long understood that locations are more than scenery — they are storytelling tools that shape the emotional and visual language of a film,” said LMGI President John Rakich. “His commitment to authenticity and deep respect for the craft makes him a perfect recipient of the Eva Monley Award.”

In addition to his Oscars for Dances with Wolves, Costner has received accolades from the Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild, Directors Guild of America, and other industry organizations.

Also being recognized at this year’s ceremony is Ilt Jones, known for his work on Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Dark Knight Rises, and the Transformers series. He will receive the LMGI’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award.

The LMGI Awards honor exceptional contributions by location professionals in film, television, and commercials, spotlighting the vital role of location scouting and management in visual storytelling.
