Kevin Costner to Receive Legend of Cinema Award at SCAD Savannah Film Fest

Kevin Costner has been chosen to receive the Legend of Cinema Award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, as reported exclusively by The Hollywood Reporter.

The award will be presented to Costner following a screening of his film Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1 on November 1. This marks the first installment of an epic Western series that he directed and stars in. After the screening, I will moderate a Q&A session featuring Costner along with key members of the film’s crew, including cinematographer J. Michael Muro (CAS), costume designer Lisa Lovaas, film editor Miklos Wright (ACE), and re-recording mixer Joe DeAngelis. Previous recipients of this prestigious award include notable figures such as Samuel L. Jackson, Patrick Stewart, and Hugh Jackman.

Costner will be among a distinguished lineup of Hollywood talents attending this year’s SCAD Savannah Film Festival, the largest university-sponsored film festival in the U.S., taking place from October 26 to November 2. Other Oscar contenders being honored include Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez), who will join me for a live recording of the Awards Chatter podcast on November 1, as well as Marisa Abela (Back to Black), Amy Adams (Nightbitch), and Annette Bening (lifetime achievement). Additional honorees include Jerry Bruckheimer (Young Woman and the Sea), Kieran Culkin (A Real Pain), Colman Domingo (Sing Sing), and many more. The festival will also feature a variety of documentary filmmakers participating in the 11th annual Docs to Watch panel, which I will moderate on October 30.
