“Kevin Costner’s Commitment to ‘Horizon’ Despite Its Box Office Setbacks”

Kevin Costner is facing setbacks but remains determined. Despite the disappointing box office performance of Horizon: An American Saga, Part One, the 69-year-old actor is unwavering in his commitment to his ambitious four-part film franchise. Costner is confident that the series will eventually resonate with audiences and is dedicated to seeing his vision come to fruition.

In an interview with Today, Costner shared his resolve to continue with the project despite the film’s lackluster $11 million opening weekend in June. “I made a promise to myself to bring these epic stories to life, and I hope people will come to appreciate these characters,” he said. He described Horizon as “the hardest thing I’ve ever done,” but remains hopeful that each installment will improve and captivate viewers. “I love this movie,” he enthused. “I love the second one — and the third one’s even harder than the first two, and the fourth one completes the story.”

Although the second installment was removed from the summer schedule, it has found new hope at the Venice Film Festival, where both the first and second parts will be screened in September. Festival curator Alberto Barbera praised Horizon as a “visionary project” and expressed honor in showcasing it.

Costner’s financial commitment to the franchise has been substantial, with the actor investing $38 million of his own money. According to a Life & Style insider, Costner is facing significant financial strain due to the film’s poor reception. “For all his bravado, he’s terrified that Horizon will drain his finances,” the insider revealed, noting that Costner’s accountant had advised against using his personal funds for the project. Finance expert Eric Schiffer also warned that this investment could jeopardize Costner’s financial future, criticizing the plan to present four parts of the film in one day as impractical.

Despite skepticism from financial experts and critics, Costner remains committed to his dream, believing that his ambitious project will eventually find its audience and achieve the success he envisions.
