“Kevin Costner’s Friends Express Concern Following Divorce and ‘Horizon’ Disappointment”

Kevin Costner is reportedly going through a difficult period, according to sources who say his friends are “worried about him” following his recent divorce and the disappointing performance of his film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1. Life & Style reveals that insiders are concerned about Costner being under “extreme pressure,” especially after he spoke about suffering from kidney stones while working on the 2016 film Hidden Figures. The source noted, “It’s no coincidence he’s talking about his kidney stones from a few years ago. Although he was generally healthy, he’s not as young anymore.”

Costner’s Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1, which he directed, co-wrote, co-produced, starred in, and partly financed, debuted in theaters in June but failed to meet expectations. With an estimated budget of $50 million, the film’s box office gross fell short at under $35 million, and it also received poor reviews from critics. This financial disappointment could result in significant losses for Costner, with the “worst-case scenario” being a potential loss of his house, according to the source. “He’s dealing with so much right now,” the insider said. “He takes these setbacks personally, and although he tries to stay strong, these bad reviews hurt. He needs to bounce back and reinvent himself while also managing alimony payments to his ex-wife, Christine. The reality is he’s not as resilient as he appears.”

The release of Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2, originally scheduled for August, has been postponed. The source also mentioned that Costner’s romantic life hasn’t been smooth, noting that he is “extremely vulnerable” following his messy divorce from Christine Baumgartner and a rumored but unsuccessful romance with singer Jewel Kilcher. The insider commented, “He’s not suited to being single, no matter what he says.”

The stress from these personal and professional setbacks could be affecting Costner’s health, with concerns that it might lead to more physical issues, such as another kidney stone episode. Earlier in August, another source claimed that Costner is in “a world of pain,” citing poor sleep, ongoing crisis meetings over his projects, and struggles with maintaining relationships. The source added, “Everything seems to be falling apart for him. It’s only a matter of time before it all becomes too much.”

The report did not address whether Costner’s very public departure from Yellowstone has contributed to his current challenges. As of now, neither Costner nor his representatives have commented on these new developments.
