Kevin Costner’s second “Horizon” film had its theatrical release pulled. The film is now titled “Horizon: The Conflict”.

NEW YORK (AP) — The August release of Kevin Costner’s highly anticipated sequel, “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2,” has been postponed after the initial film’s lackluster performance at the box office.

New Line Cinema announced Wednesday that the film, originally set to premiere on August 16, will no longer have a theatrical release on that date. The studio had initially planned a quick succession for the two installments of the “Horizon” series. However, following a modest $23 million haul from the first film in its first two weeks, the decision was made to delay the sequel.

A New Line Cinema spokesperson stated, “Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema have opted to delay the release of ‘Horizon: Chapter 2’ from its August 16 date to allow more time for audiences to engage with the first film.”

The sequel’s new release date is currently unspecified. Meanwhile, the first installment of “Horizon” will be available for premium on-demand rental starting July 16, with a streaming date on Max yet to be announced. The Hollywood Reporter was the first to report the change in the film’s release schedule.
