“Kevin Costner’s ‘Yellowstone’ Co-Star Reveals Why He Dyed His Gray Hair at Costner’s Request”
Dave Annable had to alter his appearance to play Kevin Costner’s son in “Yellowstone.” At the season 2 premiere of “Lioness,” he shared with People how he managed to keep his gray hair for this new series, contrasting his experience on “Yellowstone,” where Costner asked him to dye it.
“I asked, and this time they said yes,” Annable explained, referring to “Lioness.” “When I was on ‘Yellowstone,’ God bless Mr. [Kevin] Costner. He told me, ‘No, you’re going to dye it. I don’t want to look that old.’ I was like, ‘Oh, OK. That makes sense.’ So, for this one, I think it works. It looks doctor-like.”
Initially, Annable was hesitant to audition for “Yellowstone,” despite his wife Odette introducing him to Taylor Sheridan, the creator of both “Lioness” and “Yellowstone.” “I’m from New York and had only been on a horse twice in my life,” he admitted. “I had no idea how much I would love being a cowboy and being in the mountains of Montana. It hits different.”
Though Annable’s character, Lee Dutton, had a brief arc in “Yellowstone,” Sheridan envisioned a larger role for him in “Lioness.” “I’m super excited. Taylor is incredible—one of the best, most authentic voices out there,” he said. “The cast he assembled is just an all-star team.”
He humorously added, “Taylor has said I have a face he wants to kill. For this, I was like, ‘Please don’t kill me, I can’t take two in a row.'”
“Lioness” also features a stellar cast, including Zoe Saldana, Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman, and more.
