“‘Magnum, P.I.’ Star Dies Tragically Following Devastating Car Accident”

‘Magnum P.I.’ Star Roger E. Mosley Dies After Devastating Car Accident

‘Magnum P.I.’, one of the most iconic TV shows of the ’80s, starred Tom Selleck as the charismatic private investigator and aired on CBS from 1980 to 1988. Although the series ended over three decades ago, it continues to be remembered fondly. Unfortunately, several cast members have since passed away, including Roger E. Mosley, who experienced a tragic end.

Mosley, known for his role as helicopter pilot Theodore “T.C.” Calvin, was a key part of the show’s ensemble. In ‘Magnum P.I.’, Selleck played Thomas Sullivan Magnum, a laid-back private detective who lives in a luxurious beach house owned by a wealthy author. Magnum is selective about the cases he takes, preferring those that intrigue him. His life in Hawaii, though seemingly idyllic, often involves clashes with the estate’s caretaker, Jonathan Higgins (John Hillerman). Despite their rocky start, Magnum and Higgins eventually develop a deep mutual respect. Alongside Higgins, Magnum’s friends Orville Wilbur Richard “Rick” Wright (Larry Manetti) and T.C. Calvin are crucial to his operations. The trio, who have a shared history from their days in Vietnam, frequently assist Magnum in his investigations, with T.C. providing aerial support and combat skills, and Rick using his connections to gather information.

Mosley reprised his role in the CBS reboot of ‘Magnum P.I.’, appearing in two episodes as John Booky. Sadly, on August 7, 2022, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Mosley had died after a car accident in Lynwood, California, which left him paralyzed from the shoulders down. His daughter, Ch-a Mosley, confirmed his passing three days after the accident.

In a heartfelt Facebook tribute, Ch-a Mosley honored her father’s memory: “Roger E. Mosley, my father, your friend, your ‘Coach Mosley,’ your ‘T.C.’ from Magnum, P.I., passed away at 1:17 am. He was surrounded by family as he peacefully transitioned. We are deeply saddened by the loss of such an incredible man.”

She urged fans to celebrate her father’s legacy: “He would HATE any crying done in his name. It is time to celebrate the legacy he created for all of us. I love you, daddy. You loved me too. Though my heart is heavy, I am strong. I will care for mommy, your love of nearly 60 years. You raised me well, and she is in good hands. Rest easy.”
