“One Thing Tom Selleck Hasn’t Done Despite His Legendary Career”

Actor Tom Selleck has packed a lot into his 79 years: he’s starred in numerous TV shows, traveled the world, married his wife after meeting her in London 40 years ago, and became a father. Now, he’s reflecting on his life and career in his upcoming book, “You Never Know,” set to be released on May 7. Despite his illustrious career, there’s one thing Selleck has never done: send a text or an email.

In a recent interview with People, Selleck revealed that he has deliberately stayed away from modern technology. “Occasionally, I’ve looked up my name,” he said, “but I’ve never sent my own email or texted anyone. If anyone has ever received a text from me, it was really from my wife.”

Selleck admitted that he finds it challenging to adapt to technology, even as he writes his memoir. “I have a certain luxury where I probably couldn’t survive otherwise,” he confessed. “But I have a hard time writing things down, which is strange for someone writing a book.”

In his memoir, Selleck shares his unconventional path to Hollywood, describing his successful career as an “accident.” “I didn’t have the typical hooks that a lot of people do,” he explains. “I didn’t rehabilitate myself or have a tragic life. I had my share of ups and downs, but I’ve been very fortunate.”

He also opens up about his decision to leave the iconic TV show “Magnum, P.I.” Selleck chose to step away from the show after his young daughter was hospitalized with viral pneumonia. At the same time, he was set to begin filming “Christopher Columbus: The Discovery” with Marlon Brando. He prioritized his family over his career and realized, “It was never going to be worth it.”

Now, Selleck enjoys a quieter life with his wife on their California ranch, continuing to act in TV shows. “I’ve had a very good life,” he says, reflecting on his journey.
