Susan Sarandon and Kevin Costner rekindled their on-screen chemistry at the 2024 Venice Film Festival, nearly 36 years after their collaboration in “Bull Durham.” The actress recently shared a heartwarming new photo of the two embracing during the festival, with Susan dazzling in a crisp white pantsuit and Kevin opting for a relaxed look in chinos and a black polo shirt.
While the exact event they were attending remains unclear, Kevin also posted a candid snap from the same venue, capturing the pair engaged in conversation across separate walls. Susan’s photo was part of a reel showcasing her Venice adventures, including gondola rides and museum visits.
Both stars were seen together at the Better World Fund Gala on September 5, during the 81st Venice International Film Festival. They made a memorable appearance on the red carpet, hand in hand. Susan, 77, wore an elegant black jumpsuit with a plunging neckline, complemented by chunky gold jewelry and a wide belt that accentuated her figure. Kevin looked dapper in a black suit, waistcoat, and white shirt, opting for a relaxed, tieless look.
Susan later shared her excitement on social media, saying, “Such an honor to receive an award from this great organization @better_world_fund. And a double treat to spend time with the other honoree and my dear friend, @kevincostner.”
The two first met in the 1980s on the set of “Bull Durham,” where Kevin played Crash Davis, a seasoned minor league catcher, and Susan portrayed Annie, a groupie who captures his attention. During their time in Venice, Susan also attended the premiere of Kevin’s latest film, “Horizon: Chapter Two.” The movie, a passion project funded with nearly $40 million of Kevin’s own money, premiered its first part at Cannes in May to a seven-minute standing ovation but has struggled at the box office and received mixed reviews from critics.
