Tom Selleck Reflects on 40 Years of Love with Jillie Mack
At 79, Tom Selleck is still deeply in love with his wife of nearly 40 years, Jillie Mack, 66. In a recent interview with People, the Magnum P.I. star shared insights into their enduring romance that began in 1983.
The couple has a daughter, Hannah, 35, and Tom also has an adult son, Kevin, from his previous marriage to Jacqueline Ray. While Selleck films Blue Bloods in New York City, he makes a point to return to their Ventura, California ranch every two weeks, where they enjoy unwinding together.
Selleck, who also famously played Courteney Cox’s boyfriend on Friends, spoke about his upcoming memoir, You Never Know, set for release on May 7. He first met Jillie in London while she was performing in the musical Cats and they tied the knot in 1987, welcoming Hannah the following year.
What Selleck cherishes most about their relationship is “the friendship” and Jillie’s wonderful sense of humor. He often reviews his Blue Bloods scripts with her by his side, appreciating her editorial insights. “I’m a good editor,” he noted.
Looking back on his life, Selleck expressed immense gratitude: “I’ve had a very good life, a very lucky life.” With Blue Bloods wrapping up later this year, he plans to relax and spend quality time on their ranch with Jillie.
A source shared that he has no regrets about the show’s conclusion, eager to embrace a more leisurely lifestyle filled with walks, cooking, and family time. “He adores Jillie and trusts her to schedule activities or travel plans,” the insider revealed.
The couple lives on a sprawling 65-acre property where they grow avocados. Tom emphasized Jillie’s vibrant spirit, describing her as having an effervescent quality that brightens any room. Their close bond extends to their daughter, Hannah, an accomplished equestrian.
Tom is very proud of Hannah’s competitive horse-jumping career and hopes she finds love in her own time, emphasizing he won’t pressure her.
Regarding his memoir, he clarified that it isn’t a sensational tell-all but rather a reflection on his experiences in showbiz, the stars he’s met, and the lessons learned along the way.
As Blue Bloods gears up for its final season, the show will consist of two parts, with the first half premiering on February 16, 2024. This marks the end of a remarkable 13-year run, making it the second-longest scripted series on CBS, after NCIS.
In his official statement, Tom expressed his gratitude: “For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that celebrates the men and women who protect and serve New York City, and highlights the importance of family.”
