“Tom Selleck Allegedly Caught Using Public Hydrant Water”

Actor Tom Selleck Faces Lawsuit for Allegedly Stealing Water During California Drought

Tom Selleck, known for his roles in “Magnum P.I.” and “Blue Bloods,” is facing legal action over allegations of stealing water from a public hydrant amid California’s severe drought. The Calleguas Municipal Water District claims that Selleck’s commercial truck was filled with water 12 times from a hydrant at a construction site, which was then delivered to his ranch in Thousand Oaks, California.

According to the water board, investigators observed the truck filling up from the hydrant on multiple occasions in September and October 2013, before delivering the water to Selleck’s property in Hidden Valley. Despite receiving a cease and desist letter in November 2013, the lawsuit alleges that the truck continued to collect water from the hydrant, with deliveries reportedly made as recently as December 2013.

This spring, California Governor Jerry Brown imposed strict water restrictions due to a prolonged drought, leading to the term “drought shaming” for those violating conservation rules. The lawsuit claims that the same truck was seen filling up from the hydrant on four consecutive days in March of this year, with the water once again delivered to the Selleck property.

The Calleguas Municipal Water District is seeking nearly $22,000 in damages, which includes the cost of the investigation, legal fees, and other potential costs. Selleck, who has also starred in “Three Men and a Baby” and “Friends,” has yet to publicly comment on the lawsuit.
