Tom Selleck, who has been portraying Frank Reagan for 14 seasons, emphasized the importance of “timing” in crafting the perfect dinner scene. In an interview with Emmy Magazine’s June issue, he explained, “Dinner scenes are challenging because the focus isn’t on what you’re eating. It’s not even about your lines. It’s about the subtext. Audiences are drawn to the subtext of these family dinners because they’re privy to the underlying tensions and dynamics the characters are experiencing.”
Donnie Wahlberg, known for his role as Danny Reagan, highlighted the camaraderie and respect among the cast. “We’ve become a really good, cohesive group who genuinely respect each other,” he said. “The Sunday dinners are a significant part of the show, reflecting how the Reagans come together despite the dangers of their jobs. As Blue Bloods heads into its 14th and final season, Tom Selleck has expressed his reluctance to see the series end. In a CBS Sunday Morning interview on May 5, he voiced his hope that CBS might reconsider its decision. “We’re one of the top scripted shows on broadcast TV, and the cast is eager to continue,” Selleck said. “We’re still delivering strong episodes and maintaining our audience. I hope there’s a chance for us to keep going.”
While CBS has yet to reverse the show’s cancellation, Selleck is already planning for life after Blue Bloods. He looks forward to spending more time at his Ventura, California ranch, enjoying the outdoors, and traveling with his wife, Jillie Mack. “Tom is excited about relaxing, walking his property, and having more quality time with Jillie,” an insider revealed. “He trusts her to manage their schedule and is eager to embrace this next chapter of their life together.”
