“Tom Selleck Concerned About Losing California Ranch After ‘Blue Bloods’ Cancellation”

Hollywood and TV actor Tom Selleck is expressing concerns about the future of his California ranch as his long-running role on CBS’s Blue Bloods comes to an end this year.

Blue Bloods is set to conclude in December with the second half of its 14th season. Tom Selleck has portrayed NYPD Police Commissioner Frank Reagan since the show’s debut in 2010. CBS has confirmed the cancellation of the crime drama, which has disappointed fans and cast members alike. Selleck has voiced worries about whether he will be able to maintain his 63-acre ranch, which he purchased in 1988 after wrapping up his role on Magnum P.I..

The ranch, formerly a working avocado farm, was previously owned by Hollywood legend Dean Martin. The farm’s avocado crops were devastated by a drought, and Selleck has since devoted significant effort to maintaining the property. In a recent interview on CBS Sunday Morning, he admitted, “You know, hopefully I keep working enough to hold onto the place.” He further noted, “That’s always an issue. If I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

Selleck expressed hope for future acting opportunities, reflecting, “As an actor, you never lose – I don’t lose, anyway – that sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job.” He also voiced optimism about Blue Bloods, stating, “I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back.”

At the time of the cancellation announcement, Selleck released a statement expressing gratitude: “For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that not only celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City but also highlights the importance of family. Working alongside these incredible actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true. Thank you to CBS Studios and CBS Network for their steadfast support and heartfelt thanks to the fans who joined us every Friday night.”

As Blue Bloods nears its end and with no other projects confirmed, Selleck’s concerns about the ranch seem justified. The property has been a retreat for the otherwise private actor, who has previously shared his appreciation for working on the ranch in interviews, emphasizing his preference for outdoor work over gym workouts.

Throughout his nearly sixty-year career, Tom Selleck has been known for iconic roles such as private investigator Thomas Magnum in Magnum P.I., his role in Three Men and a Baby, and his recurring part as Dr. Richard Burke on Friends.
