“Tom Selleck Expresses Optimism for ‘Blue Bloods’ Future, Hints at Potential Season 15”

Tom Selleck Talks Future of ‘Blue Bloods’ and His New Memoir in Exclusive ET Interview

Although it was previously announced that the 14th season of Blue Bloods would be its final run, star Tom Selleck is hopeful that the hit CBS drama might have more to offer.

In an interview with ET’s Rachel Smith, Selleck, who plays Commissioner Frank Reagan on the show, discussed his new memoir, You Never Know, and shared his thoughts on the future of Blue Bloods.

The 79-year-old actor explained that despite the show initially being slated for an 18-episode 14th season, the ongoing strike shortened it to 10 episodes. However, the season is being split into two parts, with the latter half set to air in the fall.

“I’m not just going to sit around doing a countdown to the new episodes,” Selleck said. “I’m staying optimistic because everyone involved wants to continue. I believe Blue Bloods could easily extend to 15 seasons.”

Reflecting on his past experiences, Selleck drew parallels with his previous show, Magnum P.I., which ended in 1988 with a successful finale. He hopes Blue Bloods will have a similarly impactful conclusion.

Blue Bloods is still incredibly successful,” Selleck noted. “I’m not saying this to boast, but to emphasize that the cast and crew deserve recognition for their hard work. We’re as strong as ever, and I want the public to know that we’re not just winding down.”

As fans eagerly await the return of Blue Bloods in October, Selleck is also promoting his memoir, You Never Know. In the book, he reflects on his career journey and the unexpected path that led him to acting.

Selleck shared that he never envisioned himself as an actor during his youth. “I had dreams of being a professional baseball player, not an actor,” he admitted. “I grew up in a city where the entertainment industry was prominent, and I consider myself fortunate to have stumbled into this career.”

You Never Know is available now, offering readers an honest look into Selleck’s career and personal life.
