“Tom Selleck Fears Losing 63-Acre California Ranch If ‘Blue Bloods’ Isn’t Renewed: ‘Hoping to Keep Working to Maintain It'”

Tom Selleck has expressed concerns about potentially losing his 63-acre Ventura County, California ranch if CBS does not renew his long-running police drama, Blue Bloods. The 79-year-old actor discussed his situation on CBS Sunday Morning, revealing that he might struggle to keep up with his financial obligations without the show, in which he plays Frank Reagan, the New York City police commissioner.

“Hopefully, I keep working enough to hold onto the place,” Selleck said. When CBS correspondent Tracy Smith questioned whether this was a serious issue, Selleck clarified, “That’s always an issue—if I stopped working, yeah. Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch!”

Amid speculation about the future of Blue Bloods, which has been on air since 2010, Selleck addressed the possibility that the show might end this fall after its 14th season. “Well, that’s a good question—I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses,” he said.

Selleck emphasized that the show remains a strong performer for the network, noting, “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast. We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back.” He assured fans that the series is still thriving both commercially and creatively. “I can tell you this: we aren’t sliding off down a cliff,” he said. “We’re doing good shows, and still holding our place.”

Despite his extensive career in television, film, and endorsements, Selleck admitted he remains concerned about future work opportunities. “As an actor, you never lose—that sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job,” he said. “I like the fact that there’s no excuses! You just go to work and you do the work. And I have a lot of reverence for what I call ‘the work,’ and I love it. And I’d like to keep doing it.”

Earlier this year, Selleck expressed optimism about the show’s future, suggesting that CBS might recognize the strong viewer interest. “The show’s more popular than ever, and I think [numbers] will increase with the interest this year. We’re certainly not out of ideas,” he told TV Insider.

Selleck, who purchased the ranch in 1988 after his time on Magnum, P.I., has been married to Jillie since 1987 and they have a daughter, Hannah, 35. He also has a son, Kevin, 58, from his previous marriage to Jacqueline Ray.
