“Tom Selleck Pushes for Revival of Cult TV Series ‘Blue Bloods'”
CBS’s recent announcement of the cancellation of “Blue Bloods,” the popular police drama starring Tom Selleck, has met with disappointment from both the actor and the show’s fans. Despite a successful run of 14 seasons and nearly 300 episodes, Selleck believes the New York-based drama still has much more to offer.
Premiering in September 2010, “Blue Bloods” quickly became a flagship production for CBS, gaining a devoted following. Tom Selleck, a television icon best known for his role in “Magnum P.I.,” has been a central figure in the show’s success as Police Commissioner Frank Reagan.
Despite Selleck’s enduring popularity and the show’s strong performance, CBS has decided to end the series after its 14th season, which will conclude this autumn. Selleck expressed his disappointment during a recent interview with CBS News, urging the network to reconsider its decision. “We’re the third-highest scripted show on broadcast television,” he noted. “We’re winning the night. All the cast wants to come back. We’re producing quality episodes and maintaining our position. So, I don’t understand the decision.”
The 14th season of “Blue Bloods” has faced production challenges, including delays caused by last year’s SAG-AFTRA writers’ strike. These setbacks, combined with a broader trend away from long-running serials, are believed to have influenced CBS’s decision to end the series.
In a statement released when the cancellation was first announced, Selleck expressed his gratitude to CBS, saying, “Working with such incredible actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream come true.
