“Tom Selleck Remains Optimistic About ‘Blue Bloods’: ‘CBS Will Realize Its Value'”

Tom Selleck Remains Hopeful for ‘Blue Bloods’ Future

In a recent interview with CBS News, Tom Selleck expressed his optimism about the future of “Blue Bloods,” despite CBS’s announcement that the 14th season would be the show’s last. Selleck, known for his role as the head of a law enforcement family in New York City, believes the series still has a chance to continue beyond its planned finale.

Selleck remarked, “That’s a good question. I will continue to think that CBS will come to their senses. We’re the third-highest scripted show on broadcast television, and we’re winning the night. All the cast wants to return, and I can assure you, we’re not sliding off. We’re producing quality episodes and maintaining our strong position. So, I don’t know. You tell me!”

CBS announced in November that “Blue Bloods” would conclude in the fall of 2024. Selleck reflected on his experience with the show, saying, “For the past 13 years, it has been an honor and a privilege to work on a show that celebrates the men and women who protect and serve in New York City and highlights the importance of family. Working with such a talented team of actors, writers, producers, and crew has been a dream. I’m grateful for the opportunity to be part of this remarkable series for over 275 episodes.”

The announcement of the show’s ending sparked a significant fan response, including the #SaveBlueBloods campaign. Despite this, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach reaffirmed that the series will end as scheduled. “We will absolutely miss the family dinners,” she stated. “It’s important to give the show the sendoff it deserves. We love this cast and their passion for the show. However, all shows must come to an end to refresh the schedule. We are committed to concluding the series in December.”

Selleck also shared his concerns about his future career prospects after the series ends. “As an actor, you always feel like every job could be your last,” he admitted. “I hope to keep working enough to maintain my ranch, but it’s not easy. I’m set for life financially, but maybe not with a 63-acre ranch!”

Despite these concerns, Selleck is not considering retirement. “I love the work,” he said. “I have great respect for it and want to keep doing it as long as possible.”
