Tom Selleck Reveals His Most Memorable BLUE BLOODS Episode

Tom Selleck Names His Favorite BLUE BLOODS Episode

Tom Selleck, star of BLUE BLOODS, recently shared his favorite episode from the show’s impressive 13-season history. During an interview with TV Insider, he revealed, “The one that will always be my favorite is ‘The Job,’” referring to the twelfth episode of Season 2.

In this poignant episode, viewers learn that Selleck’s character, Frank Reagan, was in the North Tower of the World Trade Center on 9/11. “It was quite stirring because 9/11 was still fresh in people’s minds,” Selleck noted. He admitted it was challenging to maintain his composure while portraying Frank, who is known for his toughness. The episode features F. Murray Abraham as a psychologist, Leon Goodwin, a character Frank is initially resistant to. The storyline also addresses the health issues faced by those who were at Ground Zero.

Currently, BLUE BLOODS is in its 14th season, although production is on hold due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. While it’s uncertain if the police drama will continue beyond this season, reports indicate that the cast and key producers agreed to pay cuts to keep the series running and support the production staff.

Selleck appears eager for more seasons. When asked about the possibility of reaching Season 15, he humorously replied, “I’ve got a mortgage. I’m game!”

In July, CBS announced that “Classic Episodes” of BLUE BLOODS would air on Friday nights while fans await the new season. However, no official premiere date for Season 14 has been set, and it’s expected to debut in 2024, potentially as early as January, depending on the resolution of the ongoing strikes.

While an official episode count for the upcoming season has not been confirmed, past seasons typically feature 20 to 22 episodes. Due to the writers’ strike, Season 14 may have a reduced episode count, reminiscent of the 16 episodes produced during the pandemic’s Season 11.
