“Tom Selleck Urges CBS Executives to Reconsider and Save ‘Blue Bloods’ from Cancellation”

Tom Selleck remains optimistic about the future of Blue Bloods despite CBS’s announcement that the show will end after its current season.

In a recent chat with Yahoo Entertainment about his new memoir, You Never Know, Selleck, who stars as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan, expressed his belief that the show still has a lot of life left. “I’m not seeing it as winding down,” he said. “I prefer to stay optimistic.”

Selleck highlighted that Blue Bloods is performing exceptionally well, ranking as the third-highest scripted show on broadcast TV during its 14th season. “We’re leading our night and doing well on Paramount+,” he added. “The show is still wildly successful, and I believe CBS will come to their senses.”

The 14th season was cut short from its usual 20 episodes to 10 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike last year. CBS has added eight more episodes for the fall, but has stated this will be the series’ conclusion. Despite the fan-driven “#SaveBlueBloods” campaign, CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach recently confirmed that there are no plans to extend the show.

Selleck argued that adding a full 15th season wouldn’t be difficult. Reflecting on the potential end of the show, he compared it to the success of Magnum, P.I., the series that made him famous in the 1980s. “Both shows would be ending on a high note,” he said. “We’re still performing strongly, so it’s a bit frustrating.”
