“Tom Selleck Worries About Losing His Expansive Ranch When ‘Blue Bloods’ Wraps Up”

Tom Selleck is facing potential hardship as the end of “Blue Bloods” could mean losing one of his cherished properties. The 79-year-old actor, best known for his iconic roles in “Magnum P.I.” and “Smokey and the Bandit,” revealed that the conclusion of CBS’s popular police procedural in December might force him to part with his expansive 63-acre California ranch.

During a recent interview on “CBS Sunday Morning,” while promoting his new memoir, “You Never Know,” Selleck expressed concern over the future of his ranch. “Hopefully I keep working enough to hold onto the place,” he said. Despite a long and successful career, Selleck acknowledged the financial strain that could come from not working, especially when it involves maintaining such a large property.

Selleck, who has played New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan on “Blue Bloods” since 2010, admitted that even after decades in the industry, he still worries about job security. “Am I set for life? Yeah, but maybe not on a 63-acre ranch,” he said. “As an actor, you never lose — I don’t lose, anyway — the sense that every time I finish a job, it’s my last job.”

CBS announced last week that the current season, the show’s 14th, will be its final one, with the second half set to premiere in the fall. CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach explained that the network needs to refresh its schedule and that the show will end in December, despite the cast’s pleas to reconsider.

Selleck remains hopeful that CBS might change its decision. “We’re the third-highest scripted show in all of broadcast, who are winning the night,” he pointed out. “All the cast wants to come back. … We’re doing good shows and still holding our place. I don’t know.”

“Blue Bloods” was ranked No. 7 on Nielsen’s Top 10 list for the week of April 8 to April 14, highlighting its continued popularity.
