“Tom Selleck’s ‘Blue Bloods’ to Conclude After 14 Seasons”

The 14th season of Tom Selleck’s family-centered police drama Blue Bloods will be its final chapter, premiering in two parts in the spring and fall of 2024. The series, which has dominated Friday nights with impressive ratings, averaging over 9.5 million viewers per week last season, is also the third most-watched broadcast drama on television.

The first set of episodes will air starting February 16 on CBS.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach and CBS Studios president David Stapf expressed their gratitude in a joint statement: “Blue Bloods will always be a cherished part of CBS’ legacy. Since its debut, it has ruled Friday nights with exceptional success and become a cornerstone of our programming lineup, thanks to an incredibly dedicated fan base. We are deeply thankful to the legendary Leonard Goldberg for creating this iconic series and to the remarkable cast led by Tom Selleck, who has become a beloved figure in American homes through the Reagan family dinner table. We also extend our sincere thanks to the brilliant writing and producing teams, led by executive producer Kevin Wade, for crafting what we anticipate will be the most rewarding season yet for our loyal viewers.”

The series, which first aired in 2010, follows the Reagan family’s multi-generational involvement in New York law enforcement, with Tom Selleck portraying New York Police Commissioner Frank Reagan. The cast includes Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Jennifer Esposito, Steve Schirripa, Marisa Ramirez, and Vanessa Ray.

Tom Selleck remarked on the end of the series: “It has been an honor and privilege over these 13 years to work on a show that not only honors the men and women of New York City law enforcement but also highlights the significance of family. Working with such talented actors, writers, producers, directors, and crew has been a dream. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this remarkable team for over 275 episodes. Thank you to CBS Studios and the network for their unwavering support, and a heartfelt thank you to the fans who have shared Friday dinners with us.”

After its 14th season, Blue Bloods will join the ranks of the top 10 longest-running CBS scripted series.

Writer and executive producer Kevin Wade added, “Over the past 13 years, it’s been a tremendous privilege to bring Leonard Goldberg’s vision to life—a police procedural told through the lens of four generations of a close-knit, loyal family. Blue Bloods leaves behind an enduring legacy, thanks to our extraordinary cast, talented writers, and dedicated crew. We’re excited to deliver an emotionally satisfying final season and are deeply grateful for the unwavering support from CBS Studios and the network.”

Fans have expressed their sorrow on social media regarding the end of the Emmy-nominated series. Reactions included heartfelt messages such as, “My heart just broke. This show and its cast and crew have my heart! I feel like a member of the Reagan family because I’ve had dinner with them 275 times. Please say this isn’t the end! I’m not ready to say goodbye!” and “The show must go on! There’s so much more to explore. Viewers should have a say, and CBS should listen.”
