Selleck has been married to his wife, Jillie Mack, for almost four decades. The two met at the height of Selleck’s fame on Magnum, P.I, while she was starring in the West End musical Cats as Rumpleteazer.

The two wed in 1987, and shortly after Selleck departed the hit show so they could start a family together and live a quiet life on a ranch in Ventura, California. Before that, Mack made appearances in Seasons 4 and 5 of Magnum, P.I in which she played the roles of English girl at a party, photographer on a boat, and a character named Sally Ponting. All the characters were cameos so she did not play Selleck’s character Magnum’s love interest. She is also credited as appearing in one episode of both Frasier and ER. Despite that, however, they both stepped away from work and the spotlight to focus on their family.
“I’m a fairly private person,” the actor explained to People in 2020. “And I’ve always treasured the balance between work and time with my family. It’s always about them.”
The pair went to a lot of subterfuge to keep their 1987 marriage a secret, even planning the wedding under the aliases of “Tom Jenkins” and “Suzie Mark.” They succeeded too, their wedding, which took place at a Victorian-style, open-all-hours wedding chapel near Lake Tahoe, Nevada wasn’t reported until a month later.
“They were both nervous, like any other couple about to get married,” the chapel’s pastor recalled of the couple’s big day. “He was very concerned that the service be heartfelt, very concerned for her that the service be meaningful. He is a very warm, caring man.”
Prior to his marriage to Mack, Selleck was married to actress Jacqueline Ray for 11 years. The two officially finalized their divorce in 1982.
Selleck and his wife share a daughter, Hannah Margaret Selleck. She is a decorated equestrian who has professionally competed in both the hunter and jumper rings at the international level. Selleck also has a son, Kevin, who he adopted with his first wife.
The actor stars as New York City Police Commissioner Frank Reagan in Blue Bloods, which focuses on the fictional Reagan family and their long history with law enforcement.
