What Really Happened on Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon 2’ Set That Scared Child Actors
Child Actors Traumatized by Unscripted Violent Scene on Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2’ Set
A disturbing incident on the set of Kevin Costner’s film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 2 has reportedly left child actors traumatized after they were unexpectedly exposed to a violent, unscripted rape scene. According to an insider, the young actors were not warned in advance, leaving them frightened and confused, raising serious concerns about safety and transparency on set.
Insider Reveals Children ‘Scared’ After Hearing Woman’s Screams
Production insiders revealed that the graphic scene was filmed on May 2, 2023, without any prior notice to the crew or child actors nearby. The violent and explicit moment took place within earshot of the young cast members, none of whom were given any warning about what was about to happen. Suddenly, the children heard a woman screaming loudly, which caused panic among the young performers.
“The kids were scared and upset,” said the source, adding that although adults tried to comfort them, no one fully understood what was going on at the time.
Safety Protocols Allegedly Ignored
Stunt performer Devyn LaBella has since filed a lawsuit against Costner, alleging she was forced to perform a “violent, unscripted, unscheduled rape scene” without prior consent, preparation, or the presence of an intimacy coordinator. According to LaBella, the incident represented a serious breach of safety standards on set, particularly affecting the well-being of the children.
LaBella had previously filmed a rehearsed and approved sexual assault scene on May 1. However, she claims that when she returned the following day, she was shocked to find herself asked to perform a separate explicit scene without a script or guidelines. “There were whispers on set the next day,” she said. “People described it as an ‘uncomfortable’ night, but for the most part, what happened remained very hush-hush.”
The lawsuit alleges that the production lacked a contractually required intimacy coordinator and that LaBella was not given the 48-hour notice mandated by SAG guidelines for scenes involving nudity or simulated sex. She accused Costner and the production companies of acting “with malice, fraud, oppression, and in reckless disregard” of her rights.
Kevin Costner Accused of Ignoring On-Set Safety Measures
As both director and star of Horizon 2, Costner is at the center of the lawsuit. LaBella claims that he personally requested her participation in the unplanned scene after lead actress Ella Hunt reportedly refused and walked off set.
The filing also states that Costner did not call “action” or “cut” during the filming, leaving LaBella unsure when the traumatic scene began and ended. She described feeling “exposed, unprotected, and deeply betrayed by a system that promised safety and professionalism.”
“What happened shattered my trust and forever changed how I move through this industry,” LaBella said.
Costner’s attorney, Marty Singer, has vehemently denied the allegations, calling LaBella a “serial accuser” and stating the lawsuit has “absolutely no merit.” He added that LaBella had rehearsed the scene with another actor and even sent a grateful message to the stunt coordinator afterward. “Kevin always wants to ensure that everyone is comfortable working on his films and takes safety on set very seriously,” Singer said.
Kevin Costner Enjoys Single Life After Divorce at 70
The lawsuit against Costner comes amid his recent divorce from Christine Baumgartner. Despite the split, the 70-year-old actor is reportedly enjoying his single life and “playing the field.”
Costner was recently spotted at Raspoutine Night Club in West Hollywood, where he was seen chatting and sharing physical gestures with a mystery brunette. Though they did not arrive or leave together, witnesses noted the chemistry between them.
A source said, “Kevin gets hit on everywhere he goes, and this was no different. He has many women vying for his attention.” Since the divorce, Costner has been linked to several celebrities, including singer Jewel, Jennifer Lopez, and Sharon Stone.
