“When Kevin Costner Pissed Off a New York Icon by Thinking He Was Dead”

Kevin Costner has never been one to give up easily. For decades, he’s pursued his love of westerns, most recently spending a fortune on Horizon: An American Saga, though it attracted little attention. He found some success with the Prime Video Civil War series The Gray House and as part of Yellowstone and its spin-offs, despite leaving the show after conflicts on set.

Costner’s career has seen its share of controversies, from disputes over Dances with Wolves to lawsuits with co-stars and stunt performers. One notable clash came in the late 1990s while filming For Love of the Game: New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner initially banned filming at the stadium because, in the fictional story, the Yankees lost. Costner later convinced him to allow it, calling the situation “fucked up.”

Despite the hassle, the movie flopped at the box office and earned him a Golden Raspberry nomination. Undeterred, Costner continues to push forward, working on upcoming projects including the next installments of Horizon: An American Saga and a new film with Jake Gyllenhaal, Honeymoon with Harry.
