The network confirmed the show’s end for the upcoming fall schedule, leaving many fans disappointed.

We reached out to CBS executives for an update on whether there’s any chance the show might be saved.

Unfortunately, the news isn’t promising.

CBS Entertainment President Amy Reisenbach addressed the situation, stating (via Deadline), “We want to express our gratitude to the cast and crew, and we will certainly miss the iconic family dinners. It’s important to give the show the farewell it deserves.” She appeared to close the door on any possibility of renewal.

When reminded that the cast had expressed their desire for the show to continue, Reisenbach responded, “We have great admiration for this cast and their dedication to the show. However, all good things must come to an end. It’s essential for us to refresh our schedule. The show will conclude in December.”

Tom Selleck, the show’s lead actor, also recently provided his perspective on the series’ future.
