“Yellowstone Actor Looks Back on Reunion with Kevin Costner After Decades of Playing Him”
Yellowstone Star Ian Bohen Reflects on Special Reunion with Kevin Costner After Decades
Ian Bohen, known for his role as Ryan on Yellowstone, has a unique connection to the series’ star, Kevin Costner. Bohen is the only actor to have starred alongside Costner and also played his younger version.
Years before joining Yellowstone, Bohen worked with Costner in the 1994 film Wyatt Earp, where he portrayed a younger version of the iconic actor. The two had a memorable reunion when Bohen joined the Yellowstone cast.
“I walked in, and Kevin shook everyone’s hand. When he got to me, we locked eyes, smiled, and said, ‘Wyatt,’” Bohen shared the 2025 Critics Choice and Grammy Fire Relief Lounge. “It was such a cool moment to share with him. We’d both come a long way, and here we are again, playing cowboys.”
Bohen reflected on how impactful his early experience working with Costner was. “It was one of my first jobs, and it was a big deal. You never forget those early moments in your career,” he said. “And to reconnect after all this time felt like coming full circle.”
The Yellowstone star also enjoyed the physical aspects of his role, especially working with horses and livestock. “Acting is a big part of it, but the physical stuff, being out there with the animals and the dynamics of action, adds so much to the experience. It’s 100 percent all the way around.”
As for his future projects, Bohen is keeping busy and looking forward to what’s next.
